The first recorded ascent was up Mountain Aiguille, in 1492 Antoine De Ville climbed up Aiguille, using methods for sieging castles.in 1880, the sport of rock climbing was developed. Rock climbing developed in Lake District and Wales in Britain.Walter Parry Haskett Smith, climbed Napes Needle. Mountaineering or Alpine climbing originated before rock climbing, it is the oldest form of rock climbing. Mountaineering is also extremely dangerous and requires many skill. The climber has to be aware of his/her surroundings. When the climber is scaling a mountain, the have to be aware of the snow, ice, rain, lightning, and etc. If you're mountaineer you have to take care of yourself and your comrades, you also have to be able to cook and have medical skills at the least.
Traditional climbing, also known as trad climbing requires the climber(s) to wear the gear needed to protect against falls. One of the gears needed is the piton, which was invented by John Salathe, (inventor of the steel piton) . A piton is a peg or spike driven into cracks or the rockface to support the climber. But pitons were banned do to the fact that they left permanent damage to the rock faces. After finishing the climb climber move any gear used in the climb. The climber ascends up using a rope and the climb is often short it can also be very long
Sport climbing is another type of climbing, it requires endurance, flexibility, and strength. Unlike trad climbing, there are permanent fixtures in the rock where you can attach protective gear. So as the climber escalates, they can attach rope to the bolts in the mountain. There are even world competitions for speed climbing, where they use rocks, walls, and poles and scale as fast as you can, is the ultimate goal.
Another type climbing is called bouldering. Bouldering is done without harnesses or any equipment. Bouldering is what it seems to be , where the climber climbs up boulders. You can boulder at gyms or natural boulders. As a precaution to falling the crash pads was invented. A crash pad is placed on the ground, to reduce the impact of the fall. Crash pads are made up of layers of foam.
There is also top rope climbing, that includes two people and a rope. To top rope climb, and anchor is attached to the top of what you're climbing. One person is secured to the rope which is going through the anchor, where the second person holds on to the rope. Top rope climbing is usually over short distances, making it easy for the climber. It is also the most common type of climbing, in gyms.
Last but not least, free solo climbing. This is one of the most dangerous types of climbing. The climber relies on their physical and mental strength. After climbing for several hours wouldn’t you start feeling fatigue? Solo climbers can’t use any equipment, therefore not always being able to stop a lethal fall. Many people regularly die while solo climbing. Solo climbing takes a lot of willpower and determination, and inexperienced people should not attempt it.

TV Commercial to Theme
Just then, a wolf attacks the dog, which I can relate to as Prince Humperdinck but then three horses come and protect the dog. I think that these horses represent Inigo and Fezzik because they helped defend Westley against danger and were all able to overcome it. The next scene is where the horses escort the puppy back to the owner, just like when Westley and Buttercup are reunited and Prince Humperdink is defeated. With a little help, Westley was able to overcome the hardships of love and be reunited with his true love.

This T.V. commercial is related to our theme "Finding Love". In the commercial the owner is like Buttercup and the dog is Westley. Westley or the dog, gets separated from the person who they love. Even when they're both separated they both try to find each other. This shows their love for each other and the determination they have to find each other. I think this relates to our theme because they found love and even though they were separated, that did not stop them. Even still, love is full of obstacles they were able to pull trough and find each other again. Some of the obstacles were Prince Humperdinck, Count Rugen, and the Fire Swamp. Near the end of the commercial, it shows that the puppy is covered in dirt from his long journey back to his owner.
